Seismic Restraint

United States Geologic Survey has an excellent site which is constantly updated with information on worldwide earthquake activity, earthquake science and earthquake hazard reduction. The web site is provided by the USGS Earthquake Hazard Program as part of the effort to reduce earthquake hazard in the United States.

Visit: www.earthquake.usgs.gov

Building Seismic Safety Council develops and promotes building earthquake risk mitigation regulatory provisions. Seismic design maps can be purchased from this site.

The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) advances the arts and sciences of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration. It provides useful information on the seismic restraint of equipment, piping and ductwork. We recommend ASHRAE publication RP-812 – “A Practical Guide to Seismic Restraint”, which can be purchased from the web site.
